Critiques
The cat's demeanour and expression could reflect almost anyone or anything that does not know the comforts of regular meals and security of a good home. Yet, in spite of all, perhaps he/she still has hope that someone will care enough to reach out and share.
This image does a wonderful job evoking an emotional reponse, conveying mood and a need that could be fulfilled. I think something like this would 'speak' quite well for an animal charity, such as the Humane Society or SPCA, or even a smaller, local cat rescue organisation.
This has not only excellent artistic merit, but it communicates an unspoken message for those who have no words to speak and no voice to ask for help.
Well, it would be a lie to say that I clicked on this for other reason than the cat. So firstly I would like to say well done for drawing the viewer's attention in an effective way.
What I like about this deviation is the emotion laid all over it. The black-and-white filter doubles it. Everything about this little cat makes me think it is looking at something very precious to it. The facial expression, - which is hardly visible, so another point for that - the tiny paws trying to push his/her way trough the glass, the tiny size of the animal, all of this has a fantastic effect. I'm loving the concept, even if it breaks my heart.
So, if it was meant to be sad and depressing, then very well done! If not, then you did it anyway, and it makes me wanna stare at this photo for hours.
